The Michigan Small Colleges’ Art Exhibition was open to any full or part time student at any of the participating colleges.  The works submitted were required to have been completed during the student’s undergraduate college career and not have been previously exhibited in the Michigan Small Colleges’ Art Exhibition.  Each artist was allowed to submit up to three works: paintings, prints, drawings, photography, sculpture, ceramics, mixed media, video art and computer generated work.  Cathy Van Voorhis juried the work, and holds Bachelors in Art and in Philosophy from Albion College and a Masters in Art History from Michigan State.  Since 1997she has been teaching studio art, art appreciation and humanities courses at Washtenaw Community College.  Her paintings have been exhibited throughout the state in commercial and community galleries and academic venues; she has also been the recipient of numerous awards, most notably, a Creative Artist Grant from The Michigan Council for the Arts.
