Many years ago, the paper doll stage of life, I became aware of color....my life was changed forever.

I have applied this love of color to my journey through life, from making my first paper dolls, to making colorful wedding garments for my children as they married, to stained glass windows for churches in the area (68) to drawing in graphite, painting in oils, watercolors, and now Pastels....I have also owned a commercial business (Landscaping) with my husband for 50 years, raised a family of three children, been an executive secretary in a local bank, a grandma and great grandma, and most recently the Director of Studio One at the Adrian Center for the Arts.

The urge to create comes from within when I observe the beauty in nature, the gentle breeze, a precious baby, the sun rise and sun sets....and more.

Sometimes when you feel you could scream but you can’t. When the world only sees one side of you but there are many. When you have all the things in the world you could say but no one would listen. These are the things I aim to depict in this body of work. The message being simple, you are more than what meets the eye, the sum of your parts, and the many faces you wear.

PAZZO (pronounced pawt-so) is the Italian word for crazy, and my journey with clay has been nothing short of amazingly crazy.

Having recently discovered myself as an artist, I’m at the very beginning of that exploration anxious to see what that tag will say as my work is labeled. Inspired by those whose work creates a tension in vision or thought, my work is inspired by many artists.

Every new sculpture takes me to a place that awakens something in me that I never knew existed. It reminds me every day that perhaps when we reach a point in life where we think we know ourselves; we can be surprised by whom we can become. Unwrapping this new potential is a rare and crazy opportunity for someone who is the mature stages of life.
