Twenty-three years ago Michael Joseph left the security of the rust belt and greater Detroit Metro area for the wilds of the high desert of eastern Washington State. Since that time he had been working on his ranch and creating paintings done in a style that only Michael could do. He mixed bold enamel colors, spray paint, and oil pastels to produce vivid images pre-dating the graffiti arts movement and loaded with metaphors and pointed statements about our world.

Since graduating with his MFA from the Cranbrook Academy of Art in 1972, Michael exhibited extensively in Detroit, New York, Washington DC, and Washington State. Within every venue that Michael would exhibit he left yet another indelible mark on the art world.

Michael passed away at the age of 56 on December 6th 2003, these ten paintings are just a small representation of the last works of Michael Joseph.
