Landscapes: Dreams & Themes

Jan Fox

"Travel affords great opportunities for photography. A favorite quote of mine by Ancient Roman philosopher, Seneca, states: 'Travel and change of place impart new vigor to the mind' ".

My primary interest in photography is the landscape, but also with interests in architecture and making abstract photos when I see an opportunity.  I seek to convey a sense of “being there” for the viewer.

I work in the 35mm format and switched from film to digital in 2007.  The digital format seemed to open up more creativity as it allows much more experimentation. The printing processes I utilize are metallic, as it shows the image in a very vibrant, almost 3-D effect; watercolor, which has a more painterly feel; and also canvas.

I have been inspired by the works of Ansel Adams, as his landscape photography was brilliant and, to this day, still captivates the viewer.
